Peter Schmitz is a guitarist, bassist, and songwriter with a background that spans classical, rock, pop, country, blues, and folk. Peter believes that lessons should be as unique as each student. He teaches electric and acoustic guitar, both flatpicking and fingerstyle techniques.A former professional musician in New York City, he holds a degree in music composition from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he studied under accomplished guitarists John Patykula and Larry Snitzler. Peter currently performs with the Tidewater Classical Guitar Orchestra and at local venues. His lessons are designed to be engaging and comprehensive, covering everything from ear training and technique to music theory and repertoire.Peter understands that every student has their own motivation and interests. Fostering curiosity and a love for music is his main goal. Lessons include ear training, technique, music literacy.
