Christian Mitchell is a recent graduate of Old Dominion University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a Jazz emphasis. During his time at ODU, he was an avid performer in many of the university’s ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, & Monarch Marching Band–where he was Drumline Captain.
Christian is a versatile percussionist that performs regularly in the Hampton roads area with local groups that cover a wide range of styles and genres, which includes the The Virginia Wind Symphony, The Christian Mitchell Project,, and several other groups.
Christian has had the privilege of performing with jazz musicians Houston Person, Katie Thiroux, and Kenny Washington, and has performed under the baton of amazing conductors such as Dennis J. Zeisler, Col. Arnold D. Gabriel, Julie Giroux, and Loras Schissel.
Aside from being an active performer, Christian is also a very active educator in the Hampton Roads Area; where he has been teaching front ensemble, drumline and private lessons since 2018, having the opportunity to work with several programs such as First Colonial High School, Maury High School, Grassfield High School, and Hickory High School.
