c-davidniblack-musicThe Academy of Music is Hampton Roads’ only independent non-profit community music school and is accredited by the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts. Since 1991, we have been bringing the joys of music study to students in Norfolk, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. See the venues page for more information.

Our Mission: To bring the joys and benefits of learning music to the residents of Hampton Roads, regardless of their ability to pay.

Office Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  We maintain a small staff, so please call ahead!

IMPORTANT: All Academy classes and lessons will be cancelled if Norfolk Public Schools are cancelled – check your local television or radio station for cancellation notices.

The Academy of Music is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, equal opportunity organization.  It does not discriminate on the basis of race, nationality, ethnic origin, color, sex or religious belief in any of it policies or programs.

Our 10th Annual Recital and Auction is coming soon.
